The Cenotes Route in Puerto Morelos is a natural paradise that attracts adventurers and nature lovers alike. Here are some recommended cenotes that you can't miss on your visit:

Cenote Verde Lucero: This cenote is ideal for those looking for a natural jungle experience. It has a zip line to jump into the water and platforms to jump from different heights.

Cenote Siete Bocas: Kilometer 16. It gets its name from the seven openings that allow light to enter the cenote, which gives it a magical aspect. It is one of the most impressive in the area.

Cenote Kin-Ha: Kilometer 18.5. With a more rustic and jungle-like atmosphere, Kin-Ha offers zip lines and diving platforms, as well as areas to swim and explore the beauty of this deep cenote.

Cenote La Noria: Kilometer 19. Similar to Kin-Ha, Cenote La Noria has a little bit of everything to offer- ATV’s, ziplining, and horses! And an amazing cenote that is great for snorkeling.

Cenote Las Mojarras: The largest in the area, ideal for activities such as kayaking and swimming. It also has a zip line to cross over the cenote.

Cenote Boca del Puma: Kilometer 16. Here you can not only swim, but it is also ideal for those who enjoy adventure, with options for zip lines and ATV rides through the jungle.

Cenote Zapote: Kilometer 19. Famous for the geological formations known as “bells of death”, this cenote is a special place for divers looking to explore unique underwater formations.

Each of these cenotes offers a unique experience, whether for the natural beauty, the tranquility of its crystalline waters or the possibility of enjoying extreme activities in the middle of nature.

In the Cenotes Route you will not only find impressive cenotes, but also a variety of theme and adventure parks that offer exciting experiences for all tastes. Here are some of the most outstanding ones:

Selvática: If you like strong emotions, this adventure park is for you. Selvática offers a wide variety of adrenaline-filled activities, such as a circuit of ten zip lines, a bungee jump, ATV rides, and a “human roller coaster” that will make you feel the speed in the middle of the jungle. It also includes the opportunity to swim in a cenote, which combines extreme adventure with the tranquility of nature.

Xenotes: This tour is not a park per se, but it is a must-do experience if you want to get to know the diversity of cenotes that exist in the region. Throughout the tour, you will visit different types of cenotes and participate in activities such as kayaking, rappelling, zip-lining and snorkeling, all in spectacular natural settings. It is an ideal option for those looking to explore more than one cenote in a single day.

Toh Reserve: For nature lovers and birdwatchers, the Toh Reserve is a paradise. With more than 500 hectares of jungle, this place offers the opportunity to see exotic birds and rich wildlife, including jaguars, pumas, ocelots and other species. In addition to wildlife viewing, here you can take night walks, hike and even participate in meditations in the middle of nature, making it a perfect destination for spiritual connection and disconnection from the modern world.

These options offer you a perfect combination of adrenaline, nature and tranquility in the impressive Cenotes Route.

To get to the Cenotes Route, follow these tips:

From Puerto Morelos: The entrance to the route is only five kilometers from downtown Puerto Morelos. If you are staying in this area, you can take a cab or rent a bicycle if you prefer a more ecological and relaxed option. However, keep in mind that the route extends for 35 kilometers, so a vehicle of your own is more practical if you plan to explore several cenotes and parks.

From Cancun: If you are in Cancun, the route is approximately 40 kilometers to the south. The drive takes about 40 minutes. The most convenient option is to rent a car, as it will allow you to move freely between the various cenotes and parks at your own pace.

Public transportation: There is no direct public transportation to the Cenotes Route, which makes it difficult to access without a private vehicle. If you decide not to rent a car, a good alternative is to hire a cab, making sure to arrange both the outward and return journeys, as it is not easy to find return transportation along the route.

Organized tours: Another option is to book an organized tour. Many agencies offer excursions to the Cenotes Route that include round-trip transportation from Puerto Morelos, Cancun or Playa del Carmen. This option is ideal if you don't want to worry about logistics and prefer to enjoy the activities without worries.

The advantage of having your own vehicle or a tour is that you can tour the different cenotes and parks at your own pace, without worrying about transportation availability.

To fully enjoy your visit to the Cenotes Route and take care of the natural environment, we recommend you to bring the following:

What to bring:
Swimsuit: For swimming in the cenotes.
Towel: To dry off after water activities.
Sunglasses and hat or cap: To protect you from the sun.
Cool clothes: Preferably cotton, comfortable for outdoor activities.
Water shoes: Sandals or shoes that can get wet, ideal for walking along the rocks and cenotes.
Biodegradable sunscreen and insect repellent: It is essential that they are biodegradable to protect the delicate ecosystem of the cenotes.
Reusable water bottle: Stay hydrated without generating plastic waste.

How to be a responsible traveler:
Cenotes are unique and fragile ecosystems, so it is important to respect certain rules to preserve their beauty and biodiversity:

Previous bath: Before entering a cenote, it is necessary to take a shower to remove any chemicals from the skin (sunscreen, makeup, deodorant, etc.).
Do not touch stalactites and stalagmites: The natural grease of our skin can damage them, since they are very delicate formations.
Do not hang on tree roots: These roots are essential for the health of the cenote ecosystem.
Do not feed or disturb the local wildlife: Respect the wildlife so as not to alter their behavior or habitat.
Do not leave trash: Take all your waste with you to keep the environment clean.

Hours:

Cenotes are usually open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, but it is advisable to check specific hours before your visit, as they may vary depending on the cenote or park you plan to visit.

Enjoy this paradise!
